WNBA > Take a seat, take a stand

TAKE A SEAT, TAKE A STAND: Even in an era where women’s voices are stronger than ever, they continue to be sidelined in sports. After claiming “We Got Next” in 1996, the WNBA became a pioneer of a movement that hadn’t taken off yet. Now that the women’s movement has achieved critical mass, the WNBA wants to re-stake their claim as a leader in sports. It’s time to show this generation that “next” is now, and that women aren’t just waiting around for their turn to play. During the 2018 season, the WNBA invited all voices supporting women to the arena by turning every seat at a WNBA game into a chance to stand up for women and girls. Each ticket did more than support women’s sports; it supported organizations that are changing the game. Our “Take a Seat. Take a Stand.” campaign divided WNBA arenas into sections, each one assigned to a different organization. When fans took their seats, they also took a stand for a cause of their choosing, and the WNBA donated a portion of the ticket towards it. As Creative Director, I led teams on writing for the social film, website messaging, and social activations.
